What Counts as Green Waste?
Green waste, or garden waste, is any organic material that comes from plants in your garden or yard. On the Sunshine Coast, where gardens grow fast and storms roll through regularly, the volume of green waste people deal with can be significant. Common types of green waste we collect include:
- Palm fronds, which are heavy, awkward and a nightmare to bag up
- Branches and limbs from trees and large shrubs
- Logs and cut-up tree limbs
- Garden prunings from hedges, shrubs and ornamentals
- Lawn clippings and pulled weeds
- Garden rubbish bags and loose garden debris
- Soil and dirt from landscaping or garden bed removal
- Small tree stumps and root balls

Green waste removal prices
Green waste has its own prices, all including GST. Most garden jobs are one person. We send two for logs, stumps or very heavy loads.

The tip fee is added at cost, with no markup, and green waste is cheap to tip. A full ute of garden organics is $20 at Sunshine Coast Council sites and $15 at Noosa Council's sites (2026-27 council fees). Our tip fees guide has every site's hours and charges.
Saturdays are x1.5, so a one-person ute load in a pile is $263. More than one ute load? Send us a photo and we'll price the whole job.
Why Green Waste Is Hard to Get Rid Of Yourself
Council green bins are great for small amounts, but they hold 240 litres, which isn't much when you're dealing with palm fronds, a pile of prunings or storm debris. Sunshine Coast Council doesn't collect large items or garden waste from the kerb, and driving several trailer loads to the tip yourself takes time, a suitable vehicle, and the energy to load it all.
Green waste is also heavier than most people expect. A pile of palm fronds might look manageable but can weigh hundreds of kilograms. Logs and soil in particular are back-breaking to move without the right equipment and experience. That's where we come in.

We take green waste seriously. Wherever possible, we take your garden material to green waste processing facilities where it is composted or mulched rather than dumped in general landfill. This produces compost and mulch used by councils and landscapers, which is a far better outcome for the environment than burying it in the ground. It's the responsible approach and it's something we're proud to offer as part of every green waste removal job.
